Alexandra Weaverling grew up in sunny San Diego, California. According to family members, she was singing before she could talk, thus beginning a lifelong love of music and the arts. Alexandra was very active in music, dance and theater growing up. She loves all creative art forms, and singing is especially natural and close in her heart. After graduating from New York University, she was active in NYC musical theater, teaching children’s music classes and playing her own original songs at open mic. As a nanny by day, Alexandra learned through experience how to engage children through play. Over the next few years, she continued training in creative arts therapy and other holistic modalities including yoga and meditation, living in India and Thailand along the way. Now, Alexandra is more than halfway through a PhD in Clinical Psychology, bringing a multi-disciplinary approach.
“I love music and singing and I am so happy to share this with families in Music Together® classes! Before words, playing music is a way to communicate: I see you, I hear you. I deeply believe all of us are naturally musical, and I love seeing this in babies and young children! Music brings us joy and connection. It is my hope that in class, parents and caregivers will reconnect with their own joy of music, and feel more comfortable bringing music into daily life with their children.
