Elisabeth Lowry is originally from Davis, CA where she started singing and dancing before she could talk and walk. She has fond memories of singing harmonies and rounds with her parents for hours on end in the car, and she also loved to sing campfire songs with family and friends. Her years of ballet dancing inspired her love of classical music, and staring into the orchestra pit was a key inspiration for starting the flute. Elisabeth eventually went on to study music, receiving a Bachelors of Music from Northwestern University and a Masters of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She also had the wonderful opportunity to study music (and hike in the mountains!) for a year in Salzburg, Austria. Elisabeth enjoys making music and dancing with her seven nieces and nephews, and she loves to lead family sing-alongs on the guitar.
"I began my music teaching career as a flute instructor for children. As a Music Together® teacher, it is a delight to share my love of both music and dance with children and their families. I understand that it does not feel natural for many adults to sing and move with others, and while I encourage participation, I am sensitive to the comfort level of each class. It is an amazing experience to watch children grow musically and developmentally, and I try to create an environment that allows both the adults and children to participate at their own pace and have FUN at the same time! Music making creates community, and community inspires sharing and learning. I can't wait to share the joy of music and movement with your children!"
